Every week another vendor promises AI will run your company. Here is what AI actually does today, inside Odoo, at foreign-run companies in China — and the one rule that makes it safe to use.
The rule first
AI drafts. A named human approves. Odoo executes.
That is the whole architecture. The AI never sends an order, never touches money, never files a customs document on its own. It does the reading and the writing — the parts that eat your team's hours — and a person you can name clicks approve. Every action is logged. If you cannot audit it, you should not run it.
What that looks like in practice
The Monday morning report. Every Monday at 8, the boss gets the week in plain language: sales, cash, purchasing, production, problems. The numbers are computed in Python directly from Odoo — the AI only writes the narrative around them, in English with a Chinese summary. It cannot invent a number, because it never calculates one. Reading time: three minutes. This runs in production today.
Fapiao checking. An employee photographs a fapiao with their phone. OCR reads it; deterministic rules check for duplicates, the buyer title (抬头), age and authenticity — before finance ever sees it. A wrong fapiao gets rejected with the reason explained to the employee automatically. Finance stops being the fapiao police. Live in production.
BOM health scanning. A nightly scan runs seven deterministic checks across thousands of bills of materials — loops, duplicate lines, archived components, quantity outliers. The AI writes the summary a human reads over coffee. The scanner is strictly read-only: it has no ability to change a BOM, by design. At one manufacturer this watches 19,000+ BOMs.
The website chat you might be talking to. Dan AI, the assistant on this site, answers questions about our 50+ modules in English or Chinese, and hands you to a human when it should. It runs on the same AI Pack we deliver to customers — we do not sell what we do not use.
Why DeepSeek
Most AI advice ignores one thing: your team is in China. DeepSeek is best-in-class for Chinese and reachable from the mainland without tricks. Odoo 19 also ships native Gemini and OpenAI support, so you are not locked to one model — we route each job to the model that fits it.
Where to start
Not with a chatbot strategy workshop. Start with one workflow that costs your team real hours every week — expense checking, order intake from customer PO PDFs, the weekly management report — and automate the reading and drafting part of it. Keep the approval human. Measure the hours.
If you run a foreign-owned company in China and want to know which of your workflows are worth automating first, ask for a free assessment via the contact form — or see what is already built on the AI Pack page. Straight answer within one business day.
